چکیده

We present a purely model-theoretic semantics for disjunctive logic programs with negation, building on the infinite-valued approach recently introduced for normal logic programs [11]. In particular, we show that every disjunctive logic program with negation has a nonempty set of minimal infinite-valued models. Moreover, we show that the infinite-valued semantics can be equivalently defined using Kripke models, allowing us to prove some properties of the new semantics more concisely. In particular, for programs without negation, the new approach collapses to the usual minimal model semantics, and when restricted to normal logic programs, it collapses to the well-founded semantics. Lastly, we show that every (propositional) program has a finite set of minimal infinite-valued models which can be identified by restricting attention to a finite subset of the truth values of the underlying logic.

Semantics for Disjunctive Logic Programs with Explicit and Default Negation

The use of explicit negation enhances the expressive power of logic programs by providing a natural and unambiguous way to assert negated information about the domain being represented. We study the semantics of disjunctive programs that contain both explicit negation and negation-by-default, called extended disjunctive logic programs. General techniques are described for extending model, xpoin...

Domain-theoretic Semantics for Disjunctive Logic Programs

We propose three equivalent domain-theoretic semantics for dis-junctive logic programs in the style of Gelfond and Lifschitz. These are (i) a resolution-style inference semantics; (ii) a model-theoretic semantics; and (iii) a (nondeterministic) state-transition semantics. We show how these three semantics generalize \for free" to disjunctive logic programming over any Scott domain. We also rela...

Negation in Disjunctive Logic Programs

In this paper, we study inferring negation from disjunctive logic programs. First, we consider extensions of the GCWA and the WGCWA for general disjunctive programs based upon the stable model semantics. We de ne new rules, the GCWA : and the WGCWA : , which are natural extensions of the GCWA and the WGCWA. Second, we introduce a new semantics called the possible world semantics for general dis...

First-Order Expressibility and Boundedness of Disjunctive Logic Programs

In this paper, the fixed point semantics developed in [Lobo et al., 1992] is generalized to disjunctive logic programs with default negation and over arbitrary structures, and proved to coincide with the stable model semantics. By using the tool of ultraproducts, a preservation theorem, which asserts that a disjunctive logic program without default negation is bounded with respect to the propos...
